Hyundai launched the Bayon in India on 26 October 2026, a compact SUV with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that Hyundai places between the Venue and the Creta. We found no Hyundai or Laxmi Intercontinental announcement for Nepal, so it is not a confirmed Nepal car yet.

This is a news explainer built from Hyundai's own release and a news report. We have not driven the Bayon, and we do not guess a Nepal price or launch date.

What is the Hyundai Bayon?

The Bayon is the new India-spec compact SUV from Hyundai Motor India. A launch report says it sits between the Venue and the Creta in Hyundai's Indian line-up. Hyundai's press release lists:

Detail Bayon (India-spec)
Engine 1.5-litre MPi four-cylinder petrol
Power 84.4 kW (115 PS)
Torque 144 Nm
Gearbox 6-speed manual or IVT automatic
Screens Two 12.3-inch curved displays
Voice assistant Generative AI voice assistant, 500+ voice commands
Connected car Bluelink, 70+ features, over-the-air updates
Booking amount in India INR 11,000

The launch report adds six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and, on higher trims, a Level 2 driver-assist package with 23 functions. Hyundai says deliveries in India start in the festive season. Dimensions and a price were not in the material we could verify, so we show neither. Hyundai India's list is not the same as a Nepal list: trims, features and prices are set market by market.

Is the Hyundai Bayon coming to Nepal?

Not announced, as far as we could find. Hyundai's Nepal distributor is Laxmi Intercontinental, and its price list today shows the Exter, Venue, Creta, Creta Electric and larger models. We could not open the distributor's home page from our tools, so ask a Laxmi Hyundai showroom directly. If the Bayon is confirmed, we will add it to the launch tracker.

Where it would fit is clear from the Nepal price list (indicative ex-showroom prices, checked October 2026):

Model Price range Engine
Hyundai Exter Rs 36.96 to 37.96 lakh Petrol
Hyundai Venue Rs 48.96 to 67.96 lakh 1.2 petrol or 1.0 turbo
Bayon Not announced for Nepal 1.5 petrol (India)
Hyundai Creta Rs 55.56 to 80.56 lakh 1.5 petrol, 1,497 cc

On power alone, the Bayon's 84.4 kW is 38% above the Venue 1.2's 61 kW (84.4 ÷ 61 = 1.38) and a little below the Venue 1.0T's 88.3 kW. Nepal's Creta already uses a 1.5-litre petrol, the same engine size as the India-spec Bayon. We cannot say what it would cost in Nepal, because import taxes and local assembly decide that. The T2 pre-booking price is Rs 13 lakh above the T1 (155.96 − 142.96). The Bizshala report does not give a battery size, electric range, booking amount or handover time, and the specs on the Jetour pages are global figures that the maker says may vary by region. Treat the prices as pre-booking starting prices, not final ones.

The Binguo is the nearest to the family-car buyer. The distributor's news post from June 2026 says it returns with two batteries, 31.9 kWh (333 km) and 37.9 kWh (up to 410 km), with no test standard named. Our Atto 1 vs Binguo guide lays out the choice while Wuling's price is still unpublished.

How to plan around a launch

  • Do not pay a booking deposit on a rumour. Pay only on an official distributor receipt that states the model, variant and refund terms.
  • Treat pre-booking prices as provisional. EV and hybrid prices in Nepal changed with the FY 2026/27 budget; see our EV tax explainer.
  • Check what you can buy today. Our best SUVs in Nepal and best cars under Rs 30 lakh lists show cars with official prices now.
  • Plan the loan. Nepal Rastra Bank limits private vehicle loans to 60% of the vehicle value, so check auto loan basics and the EMI calculator.
