How we collect prices and calculate estimates

Where prices come from

Prices are indicative ex-showroom prices. Wherever the official brand or distributor in Nepal publishes a price, we use it and check their website automatically and politely (respecting robots.txt, at most one request every few seconds). When a brand publishes no price, we use the price reported in the news or on other websites, and replace it as soon as an official price appears. Always confirm the final price with the dealer.

How price changes are checked

Our software checks official pages every day and proposes changes. Small, clear changes are applied automatically; anything unusual — a large jump, a new model, a missing figure — waits for a person to review it. Each price shows the date it was last checked. We never guess a number: if no price exists anywhere, we say so.

EMI

EMI uses the standard reducing-balance formula: EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the loan amount, r the monthly interest rate and n the number of months. The default down payment is 40%. Bank rates show the month they apply to and link to the bank’s published rate. Banks may add service charges.

Running cost

Petrol and diesel: fuel price ÷ claimed mileage. Electric: battery capacity ÷ claimed range ÷ 90% charging efficiency × electricity price. Claimed figures are usually better than real-world results, so treat running costs as a best case. Fuel and electricity prices show their source and date.

“Best under budget” ranking

Each vehicle on sale under the budget gets a score from 0 to 100, combining value for money (lower price), running cost per km, power-to-weight and warranty length. Each part is scaled between the lowest and highest value in that list, and the weights are shown on every list. Vehicles missing too much data are listed separately instead of being guessed. Sponsorship never affects the ranking; sponsored cards are labelled and sit outside it.

Comparisons and verdicts

Comparison tables are calculated from the same data. Verdicts are written by our editor. Only comparisons we have reviewed are listed in search engines.

Nepal does not publish sales by model, so this list is editorial: we rank models by the evidence we can find — sales and import figures announced by distributors, Department of Customs totals and general news reports (never other vehicle portals). It is reviewed when new figures appear. Popularity never changes prices, specifications or comparison results, and advertisers cannot buy a place in it.
