Hyundai Bayon launched in India: full specs and expected price in Nepal
Wheels of Nepal · Last updated: · 10 min read
Hyundai launched the Bayon in India on 26 October 2026 at a starting ex-showroom price of INR 9,99,900. It has not been announced for Nepal yet, but if Laxmi Intercontinental brings it here and prices it the way it prices the Creta, the base Bayon would land at roughly Rs 44–51 lakh and the top automatic at roughly Rs 80–92 lakh (our estimate, explained below).
The Bayon is a new 4.2-metre SUV that sits between the Venue and the Creta in Hyundai India's line-up. It uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the Creta, has a 505-litre boot, six airbags on every variant and, on top trims, Level 2 ADAS and a generative AI voice assistant. Hyundai says it is made in India and will be exported to more than 50 markets.
What is the Hyundai Bayon?
The name is not new: Hyundai has sold a small crossover called Bayon in Europe since 2021. The India model launched in October 2026 is a different, larger car. Hyundai Motor India describes it as an "intelligent SUV" built on its Global K Enhanced platform and "engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards". Bookings opened on 23 September 2026 at INR 11,000, and the car went on sale on 26 October.
In India it is positioned between the Hyundai Venue and the Hyundai Creta. It is longer than the Venue (over four metres), which matters for tax in India, as we explain below.

Hyundai Bayon price in India (all variants)
Ex-showroom prices as reported by Jagran English on launch day. Hyundai's own page confirms the INR 9,99,900 starting price.
| Variant | Manual (6MT) | Automatic (iVT) |
|---|---|---|
| HX2 | INR 9.99 lakh | – |
| HX3 | INR 10.90 lakh | – |
| HX3+ | INR 11.80 lakh | – |
| HX5 | INR 12.45 lakh | INR 13.85 lakh |
| HX6 | INR 13.57 lakh | INR 14.97 lakh |

| HX10 | INR 16.65 lakh | INR 18.00 lakh |
How we estimated the Nepal price
A car's price in Nepal is not a simple currency conversion of its Indian price. Nepal adds customs duty, excise duty based on engine size, VAT and other charges, all calculated on the import value. India adds its own GST to the Indian ex-showroom price, but cars exported to Nepal do not carry Indian GST. So the honest way to estimate is to look at a car that is already sold in both countries and see how its price changes.
The best match is the Hyundai Creta 1.5 petrol:
- Same engine: the same 1,497 cc engine, so it falls in the same tax bracket in Nepal.
- Same Indian tax: it is also longer than four metres, so in India it pays the same 40% GST as the Bayon. Smaller cars under four metres, like the Venue 1.2 and Exter, pay 18% in India, which makes them a poor comparison.
- Same distributor: it is sold in Nepal by the same distributor, Laxmi Intercontinental.
Here is how the Creta is priced in the two countries (Indian prices from Hyundai India, Nepal prices from Laxmi Hyundai, October 2026):
| Creta 1.5 petrol variant | India ex-showroom | Nepal ex-showroom | Nepal price per INR 1 of Indian price |
|---|---|---|---|
| E (manual) | INR 10,90,700 | Rs 55,56,000 | 5.09 |
| S(O) (manual) | INR 14,20,700 | Rs 65,56,000 | 4.61 |
| SX (manual) | INR 15,04,400 | Rs 68,56,000 | 4.56 |
| S(O) (iVT) | INR 15,65,700 | Rs 69,56,000 | 4.44 |
In other words, a Creta costs between 4.44 and 5.09 Nepali rupees in Nepal for every Indian rupee of its Indian ex-showroom price. The ratio is highest for the base variant.
| E MT | 5.09 × |
|---|---|
| S(O) MT | 4.61 × |
| SX MT | 4.56 × |
| S(O) iVT | 4.44 × |

Expected Hyundai Bayon price in Nepal
Applying that 4.44–5.09 range to each Bayon variant gives these estimates. They are not official prices: Laxmi Intercontinental may bring fewer variants, different equipment or a launch offer, and customs values and the exchange rate can change.
| Variant | India price | Estimated Nepal price |
|---|---|---|
| HX2 (manual) | INR 9.99 lakh | Rs 44.4 – 50.8 lakh |
| HX3 (manual) | INR 10.90 lakh | Rs 48.4 – 55.5 lakh |
| HX3+ (manual) | INR 11.80 lakh | Rs 52.4 – 60.1 lakh |
| HX5 (manual) | INR 12.45 lakh | Rs 55.3 – 63.4 lakh |
| HX5 (iVT) | INR 13.85 lakh | Rs 61.5 – 70.5 lakh |
| HX6 (manual) | INR 13.57 lakh | Rs 60.3 – 69.1 lakh |
| HX6 (iVT) | INR 14.97 lakh | Rs 66.5 – 76.2 lakh |
| HX8 (manual) | INR 15.10 lakh | Rs 67.0 – 76.9 lakh |
| HX8 (iVT) | INR 16.54 lakh | Rs 73.4 – 84.2 lakh |
| HX10 (manual) | INR 16.65 lakh | Rs 73.9 – 84.7 lakh |
| HX10 (iVT) | INR 18.00 lakh | Rs 79.9 – 91.6 lakh |
Our best single guess for the starting price is close to the top of the base range, around Rs 50 lakh. In India the HX2 costs almost the same as the Creta E minus about INR 91,000. Applied to the Creta E's Nepal price, that points to roughly Rs 50–51 lakh.
How it compares with SUVs already sold in Nepal

What could be better
- No Nepal launch date or price yet
- Petrol only for now; no diesel, hybrid or electric version announced
- Top variants could cost as much as a mid-spec Creta in Nepal
