Power, weight and tank size
Power is shown in kilowatts on most Nepal pages; we added the PS equivalent (kW × 1.36) because that is how many buyers compare bikes.
| Model | Engine | Power | Torque | Gears | Kerb weight | Fuel tank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hero Super Splendor | 124.7 cc | 6.71 kW (9.1 PS) | 10.35 Nm | 4 | 123 kg | 13 L |
| TVS Raider 125 (FI) | 124.8 cc | 9.49 kW (12.9 PS) | 11.5 Nm | 5 | 120 kg | 10 L |
| Yamaha Saluto 125 | 125 cc | 6.1 kW (8.3 PS) | 10.1 Nm | 4 | 114 kg | 7.6 L |
| Hero Xtreme 125R | 124.7 cc | 8.5 kW (11.6 PS) | 10.5 Nm | 5 | 136 kg | 10 L |
| Honda Shine 125 | 123.94 cc | 7.9 kW (10.7 PS) | 11 Nm | 5 | 113 kg | 10.5 L |
| Honda SP 125 | 123.94 cc | 8 kW (10.9 PS) | 10.9 Nm | 5 | 116 kg | 11.2 L |
| Bajaj Pulsar 125 | 124.38 cc | 8.68 kW (11.8 PS) | 10.8 Nm | 5 | 146 kg | 15 L |
| Bajaj Pulsar N125 | 124.59 cc | 8.83 kW (12.0 PS) | 11 Nm | 5 | not published | 9.1 L |
| Bajaj Pulsar NS125 | 124.4 cc | 8.82 kW (12.0 PS) | 11 Nm | not listed | 146 kg | 12 L |
| Zontes ZT125-U1 | 124.7 cc | 10.8 kW (14.7 PS) | 13 Nm | 6 | 150 kg | 12.5 L |
| Zontes ZT125-G1 | 125 cc | 11.03 kW (15.0 PS) | 13 Nm | 6 | not published | 20 L |
A few things stand out:
- Lightest: the Honda Shine 125 (113 kg) and Yamaha Saluto 125 (114 kg). Low weight helps in traffic and when parking.
- Most power under Rs 3 lakh: the TVS Raider 125 at 12.9 PS, from Rs 2,79,900.
- Biggest tank under Rs 4 lakh: the Bajaj Pulsar 125 at 15 L, though it is also among the heaviest at 146 kg.
- Smallest tank: the Yamaha Saluto 125 at 7.6 L, so plan more fuel stops on long rides.
- The Super Splendor and Saluto are the only two with a 4-speed gearbox.
Mileage: only one 125 publishes a figure
This is the question most buyers ask, and the honest answer is that only Hero publishes a claimed figure for a 125 cc motorcycle in Nepal: 66 km/l for the Xtreme 125R on the WMTC test (BS VI). The other ten Nepal pages either give no number or describe "high mileage" without one. We do not copy figures from other websites, because we cannot check them.
Fuel cost example: at Nepal Oil Corporation's Kathmandu price of Rs 200 per litre, the Xtreme 125R's claimed 66 km/l works out to about Rs 3.03 per km (200 ÷ 66), or about Rs 3,030 for 1,000 km a month. That is a lab figure; real riding with hills, traffic and a pillion will use more fuel.

Brakes and safety
| Model | Front brake | Rear brake | ABS / combined braking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hero Super Splendor | drum | drum | not listed |
| TVS Raider 125 | drum (FI Drum) or 240 mm disc (FI Disc) | 130 mm drum | SBT (synchronised braking) |
| Yamaha Saluto 125 | 245 mm disc | drum | UBS (unified braking) |
| Hero Xtreme 125R | disc (CBS or ABS version not stated per price) | 130 mm drum | not confirmed for Nepal |
| Honda Shine 125 | 240 mm disc or 130 mm drum | 130 mm drum | not listed |
| Honda SP 125 | 240 mm disc or 130 mm drum | 130 mm drum | CBS |
| Bajaj Pulsar 125 | 240 mm disc | 130 mm drum | not listed |
| Bajaj Pulsar N125 | 240 mm disc | 130 mm drum | CBS |
| Bajaj Pulsar NS125 | 240 mm disc | 130 mm drum | ABS on the front disc |
| Zontes ZT125-U1 | disc | disc | dual-channel ABS |
| Zontes ZT125-G1 | 300 mm disc | 230 mm disc | dual-channel ABS |
Combined braking systems (CBS, SBT, UBS) apply some front brake when you press the rear; ABS stops a wheel locking under hard braking. Of the sub-Rs 4 lakh bikes, only the Pulsar NS125 lists ABS. Honda's pages list both disc and drum front brakes without saying which variant gets which, so check the bike in the showroom.
Ground clearance
Nepal's roads reward ground clearance. The Zontes ZT125-G1 lists 204 mm, the Pulsar N125 187 mm, the Raider 125 181 mm, and the Saluto 125 and Xtreme 125R 180 mm. The Super Splendor (160 mm), SP 125 (160 mm) and Shine 125 (162 mm) sit lowest.

Nepal Rastra Bank caps vehicle loans at 60% of the price. As an example only, at Nepal Bank's 5-year fixed auto loan rate of 7.99% (October 2026; two-wheeler loan rates at your bank may differ):
| Super Splendor (Rs 2,55,900) | Xtreme 125R (Rs 2,98,900) | |
