The MG4 EV costs Rs 41,49,000 (Comfort, 51 kWh, 350 km WLTP) or Rs 49,99,000 (Deluxe, 64 kWh, 435 km WLTP) in Nepal, MG's indicative ex-showroom introductory prices. For its rivals, see every EV price in Nepal, cheapest first.

The MG4 EV is MG's electric hatchback, sold in Nepal by Paramount Motors. It is a five-door, five-seat car with its motor at the back driving the rear wheels, which is unusual in this price range. It arrived in Nepal in September 2023: ShareSansar reported a starting price of Rs 41.49 lakh for the Comfort version at launch, and the Comfort is still listed at that price today.

This guide covers prices, battery and range, size, warranty, running cost and the rivals worth comparing. It is built from MG Nepal's published figures, not a test drive. We have not driven the car, so we say nothing about how it drives.

MG4 EV price in Nepal

Version Battery Price (indicative ex-showroom)
Comfort 51 kWh Rs 41,49,000
Deluxe 64 kWh Rs 49,99,000

These are the indicative ex-showroom prices on the official site (checked October 2026). MG labels them "introductory price". Registration, road tax and insurance are extra; see our guide to road tax and insurance. MG's spec tables call the versions "COM" and "LUX", and we have matched them to the Comfort and Deluxe names on the price cards.

Under the FY 2026/27 budget, electric cars are now taxed by their customs value rather than motor power, so import prices can move. Our EV tax explainer explains how. Get your quote in writing with a validity date, and ask about any festive offer running when you buy.

Battery, range and charging

Comfort Deluxe
Battery 51 kWh 64 kWh
Claimed range 350 km (WLTP combined) 435 km (WLTP combined)
Motor 99 kW, 250 Nm 99 kW, 250 Nm
Top speed 160 km/h 160 km/h
AC charging (on-board charger) 7 kW 7 kW
Maximum DC charging "more than 85 kW" "more than 100 kW"

Three points stand out:

  • Both versions have the same 99 kW motor on the Nepal spec sheet. The extra Rs 8.5 lakh for the Deluxe buys a bigger battery (13 kWh more), 85 km more claimed range, faster DC charging and more equipment, not more power.
  • The range figures are WLTP, the European test, which usually gives lower and more realistic numbers than China's CLTC or the older NEDC. Expect less than the claim on hill roads, with a full car or on the highway.
  • AC charging at 7 kW suits an overnight charge at home. As a rough guide, 51 kWh ÷ 7 kW is a little over 7 hours from empty before losses, and 64 kWh takes a little over 9. Most people top up from part-charged, so it is usually much less. MG Nepal does not publish its own AC or DC charging times. See our EV charging guide for home set-up and public DC fast chargers.

Size, space and features we can confirm

MG4 EV
Length × height 4,287 × 1,504 mm
Width 2,060 mm as stated (this probably includes the mirrors)
Wheelbase 2,705 mm
Kerb weight 1,655 kg (Comfort), 1,685 kg (Deluxe)
Boot 363 litres with seats up, 1,177 litres folded
Wheels 17-inch (Comfort), 18-inch (Deluxe)
Drive Rear-wheel drive

MG Nepal does not publish ground clearance for the MG4. It is a low, wide hatchback (1,504 mm tall), so check the underside against your own driveway and the speed breakers you cross every day.

The overview on MG Nepal's page lists a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the MG iSMART app and the "MG Pilot" driver-assistance suite. The equipment tables list items such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection and a 360° camera. However, the page marks which version gets each item with tick icons that we could not read reliably. Ask the dealer for a written equipment list for the version you are buying, especially for the ADAS features and the camera.

On safety ratings: the MG 4 Electric scored five stars from Euro NCAP in 2022. That test covered the European-market car, and equipment on Nepal cars may differ, so treat it as a manufacturer-level indication, not a rating for the exact car in the showroom.

Warranty

MG Nepal publishes two slightly different statements:

  • The MG4 model page: vehicle 1 year; high-voltage components 3 years or 1,00,000 km; high-voltage battery 8 years or 1,50,000 km (whichever is earlier).
  • MG Nepal's warranty page (for cars registered in or after 2025): vehicle 1 year; drive motor 5 years or 1,50,000 km; high-voltage battery 8 years or 1,50,000 km.

The battery cover is the same in both, but the one-year general vehicle warranty is short next to some rivals. BYD Nepal, for example, states 8 years or 1,60,000 km for battery and vehicle on the Dolphin. Ask Paramount Motors which terms apply to your car and get them in writing.

Running cost: a worked example

We use Rs 11.55 per unit, the top household block on the Nepal Electricity Authority domestic tariff (Rs 11) plus 5% VAT, as in our EV vs petrol 5-year cost guide. Energy use comes from the battery and WLTP range, plus 20% for charging losses and real roads (our assumption).

Comfort Deluxe
Battery ÷ WLTP range 14.6 kWh per 100 km 14.7 kWh per 100 km
Assumed, at the plug (+20%) 17.5 kWh per 100 km 17.7 kWh per 100 km
Units for 1,500 km a month 262.5 265.5
Cost per month about Rs 3,030 about Rs 3,070
Cost per km about Rs 2.02 about Rs 2.04
Energy cost over 5 years (90,000 km) about Rs 1.82 lakh about Rs 1.84 lakh

The arithmetic for the Comfort: 1,500 × 17.5 ÷ 100 = 262.5 units, and 262.5 × Rs 11.55 ≈ Rs 3,032 a month. Both versions cost almost the same per kilometre, so the Deluxe's extra price is not recovered through lower running costs. Try your own distance and tariff in the EV charging cost calculator.

  • BYD Dolphin: almost the same price and range, with a smaller battery and a smaller motor (70 kW), but a much longer published warranty (8 years or 1,60,000 km for battery and vehicle). Compare them: MG4 EV vs Dolphin.
  • MGS5 EV: MG's own small SUV costs Rs 2.5 lakh more for the Comfort. It has the same 99 kW motor and warranty terms, a bigger boot (453 litres) and 175–180 mm of published ground clearance. If Nepali roads worry you, that published figure is a point in its favour. Compare: MG4 EV vs MGS5 EV.
  • Leapmotor B03X and BYD ATTO 2: small SUVs a few lakh dearer. The B03X claims more range from a slightly bigger battery. Leapmotor Nepal's warranty page did not cover the B03X when we checked, so ask.

Who the MG4 EV suits

  • Buyers who want a hatchback rather than an SUV, with a WLTP range that covers several days of city driving between charges.
  • Families of four or five who can live with a 363-litre boot.
  • People who can charge at home. Like any EV, it makes most financial sense with a home socket or wall box.

It may not suit you if you regularly drive rough roads (no published ground clearance) or you want a long whole-car warranty.

What to check before buying

  1. Which version, which equipment. Get the equipment list in writing, because the tick marks on the website are unclear.
  2. Warranty terms. Ask which of MG's two published statements applies.
  3. Ground clearance. Look under the car and try your own driveway if you can.
  4. Home charging. Ask whether a wall box is included and what your meter needs. Our EV charging guide explains the basics.
  5. The loan. Private car loans in Nepal are capped at 60% of the price; see our auto loan guide and the EMI calculator.
  6. Price validity. Ask how long the "introductory price" is guaranteed.
