Nepal has three electric pickups and three electric vans with official Nepal figures: the Maxus eTerron 9, MG U9 and Foton eTunland pickups, and the Maxus eDeliver 5 and two Foton vans. Indicative ex-showroom prices run from Rs 52.99 lakh to Rs 1.28 crore (official sites, checked October 2026).
This guide is built from what the distributors publish, plus launch news where the official page is blank. We have not driven or loaded any of these vehicles. Where a figure such as payload or battery size is missing, we say so rather than borrow an overseas number.

A few notes on those prices:
- Maxus eDeliver 5. The Maxus price page lists the van and its specs but no price. Ask Himalaya Motrox for a written quote.
- eTerron 9 prices have moved. In January 2026, Business 360 reported the eTerron 9 Premium at Rs 1.18 crore. The official page now shows Rs 1.28 crore.
- MG U9 prices are labelled "introductory" on the MG site, so they may change.
- Diesel for context. Foton's own diesel Tunland G7 starts at Rs 65.40 lakh, about Rs 4.6 lakh less than the eTunland. Toyota lists the diesel HiAce van at Rs 90 lakh.
Tax note. The FY 2026/27 value-based EV tax bands in the Finance Bill are written for electric cars (customs codes 8703.80.91 and .99). Pickups and vans for ten or more people are classified differently, and we could not confirm their current rates. Our EV tax guide covers the car bands.
Electric pickups: range, battery and payload
| Maxus eTerron 9 | MG U9 EV | Foton eTunland | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery | 102 kWh LFP | 102.2 kWh | 88 kWh (launch report) |
| Claimed range | 430 km (WLTP) | 430 km (WLTP) | 430 km (NEDC, launch report) |
| Power | 325 kW (442 hp), dual motor, AWD | 325 kW, dual motor | 130 kW (launch report) |
| Torque | 700 Nm | not published | 350 Nm |
| Payload | 620 kg (Comfort page) | not published | not published |
| Braked towing | 3,500 kg | towing listed, no figure | not published |
| Battery warranty | not found on the official pages | not found on the official page | 8 years / 4,00,000 km (launch report) |
What this means:
- The eTerron 9 and MG U9 are close relatives on paper. Both list a 102 kWh-class battery, 325 kW from two motors and 430 km WLTP. Compare the equipment of each trim in writing before choosing.
- Payload is the gap that matters. Maxus states a 620 kg payload for the eTerron 9 Comfort. MG and Foton do not publish one for their pickups. If you carry goods for a living, ask for the payload in the registration papers before you pay.
- The eTunland page is blank. Foton's eTunland product page shows a price and nothing else. Its battery, range, power and warranty above come from Technology Khabar's report of the NADA 2025 launch. The same report gives a cargo box of 1,520 × 1,580 × 440 mm and 200 mm of ground clearance (laden).
- Range cycles differ. WLTP and NEDC are different laboratory tests. Foton's own Lowroof EV page shows the gap: 300 km NEDC but 255 km WLTP for the same van. So the eTunland's 430 km NEDC is not like-for-like with the other two. A loaded pickup on hill roads will cover less than any of them.
Electric vans: seats and range
| Maxus eDeliver 5 | Foton Lowroof EV | Foton EV Highroof Van | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seats | 16 (3+3+3+3+4) | 11+3 | 14 or 15 |
| Battery | 64 kWh | not published | not published |
| Claimed range | 400 km NEDC (model page); 301 km WLTP (price page) | 255 km WLTP (300 km NEDC) | not published |
| Motor | 120 kW, front-wheel drive | 130 kW, 330 Nm | not published |
| DC charging | 70 kW, 20–80% in 36 minutes | not published | not published |
| AC charging | 11 kW | not published | not published |
| Gross vehicle weight | 3,195 kg | not published | not published |
| Safety | 2 airbags, ESC, 360° camera, driver monitoring | 2 airbags, ABS + EBD | ABS + EBD |
| Price | price on request | Rs 52.99 lakh | Rs 63.49 lakh |
- The eDeliver 5 has the most detail. Maxus lists its battery, charging speeds, a 1,930 kg kerb weight and a 3,195 kg gross weight. The gap, 1,265 kg (3,195 − 1,930), has to cover the driver, passengers and luggage. That is our arithmetic, not a Maxus payload figure.
- Its two range figures disagree. The model page says 400 km NEDC and the price page says 301 km WLTP. Plan with the lower one.
- Foton's vans need questions. Neither page gives a battery size, and the Highroof page gives no range at all. Ask MAW Vriddhi for the battery capacity, charging speeds and warranty in writing.
What a full charge costs
On the Nepal Electricity Authority's domestic tariff, units above 250 a month cost Rs 11, plus 5% VAT on household use above 50 units since July 2026 (The Kathmandu Post; the government was weighing scrapping it in September). We use the higher rate, Rs 11.55 per unit. A business on a commercial connection pays a different tariff, so treat these as examples.
| Vehicle | Battery | Full charge at Rs 11.55 | Per km at the claimed range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maxus eTerron 9 | 102 kWh | 102 × 11.55 = about Rs 1,178 | 1,178 ÷ 430 = about Rs 2.74 |
| MG U9 EV | 102.2 kWh | 102.2 × 11.55 = about Rs 1,180 | 1,180 ÷ 430 = about Rs 2.74 |
| Foton eTunland | 88 kWh | 88 × 11.55 = about Rs 1,016 | 1,016 ÷ 430 (NEDC) = about Rs 2.36 |
| Maxus eDeliver 5 | 64 kWh | 64 × 11.55 = about Rs 739 | 739 ÷ 301 (WLTP) = about Rs 2.46 |
These per-km figures use laboratory ranges and ignore charging losses. With a load, on hills, you will use more. To compare against diesel with your own figures, use the EV vs petrol cost calculator and the charging cost calculator.
Which one suits which job
- Lowest price, people-carrying: the Foton Lowroof EV at Rs 52.99 lakh is the cheapest electric vehicle here. Its range is the shortest (255 km WLTP), so it suits fixed routes with charging at base.
- Hotel, school or airport shuttle: the Maxus eDeliver 5 has 16 seats, published charging speeds and a driver-assistance list. Get a price first.
- Cheapest electric pickup: the Foton eTunland at Rs 69.99 lakh. Confirm payload, range and warranty in writing, because the official page is empty.
- Towing, or a pickup as a family car: the Maxus eTerron 9 and MG U9 cost Rs 88 lakh to Rs 1.28 crore. Maxus is the only one that publishes payload and towing figures.
Put the three pickups side by side: eTerron 9 vs MG U9 vs eTunland.
Before you buy a working EV
- Payload or gross vehicle weight, from the registration documents, not a brochure.
- Battery warranty in years and kilometres, and whether commercial use is covered.
- Charging plan: a three-phase connection at your yard or depot, and the AC and DC speeds the vehicle accepts. Our EV charging guide explains meters and tariffs.
- Service and parts: where the nearest workshop that handles the high-voltage system is.
- Financing terms: commercial vehicle loans are priced differently from private car loans. Ask your bank, and see our auto loan guide.
- The final delivered price, with registration and insurance, in the dealer's written quote.
