Nepal's official distributors list five electric motorcycles, as opposed to electric scooters, and only two show a price: the Yadea Keeness at Rs 6,60,000 and the NIU RQi from Rs 9,99,000 (official sites, checked October 2026). The three Super Soco models (TC, TC Max and TS Street Hunter) are listed without a price, so you need a quote from the dealer. To compare them with petrol motorcycles, see the full bike price in Nepal list, which marks the electric ones.

In everyday Nepali, "electric bike" often means any electric two-wheeler, and most of what is on sale is a scooter: step-through frame, small wheels, floor board. This guide covers only motorcycles: bikes you sit astride, with larger wheels and a fuel-tank-style body. For scooters, see our best electric scooters in Nepal guide. Everything below comes from the distributors' own Nepal pages plus news reports; we have not ridden these bikes, and every range is the brand's claim.

A few notes on those figures:

  • Yadea Keeness. Yadea's page gives two ranges: "up to 200 km" in one place and 129 km on the EEC test in another. We use the lower, test-labelled figure. The battery is a removable dual 72 V, 32 Ah lithium pack; Yadea does not state the kWh.
  • NIU RQi. The page lists two removable 72 V, 36 Ah batteries and a 141 km range. Earlier news put it lower: Onlinekhabar's 2024 pre-launch report gave 95–105 km and an expected price of about Rs 11.5 lakh, and its NADA show report later that year gave around 105 km at Rs 9,99,000. The 450 Nm torque figure NIU quotes is measured at the wheel, not the motor.
  • Super Soco TC. The 160 km figure needs the optional second battery; with one battery Super Soco claims 80 km. The TC Max takes much longer to recharge (8–9 hours).
  • Super Soco TS Street Hunter. We could not record its specs because the official site contradicts itself: the model menu says 3,500 W, 100/200 km and 75 km/h, while the TS page's own spec block shows a 1,200 W motor, 75 km and 45 km/h. Ask the dealer which version is sold.

Battery size and what it costs to charge

Battery size, in kWh, decides how far a bike can go and how much each full charge costs. Neither Yadea nor NIU states a kWh figure, but both give voltage and amp-hours, so we can estimate the nominal size (volts × amp-hours ÷ 1,000):

Model Batteries (official) Our nominal estimate
NIU RQi 2 × 72 V, 36 Ah about 5.2 kWh (2 × 2.59 kWh)
Yadea Keeness dual 72 V, 32 Ah about 4.6 kWh, if both are 72 V 32 Ah (2 × 2.30 kWh)

NIU also publishes the RQi's "standard power consumption" as 3.8/4.6 kWh per 100 km. Using the higher figure and Nepal Electricity Authority's domestic tariff of Rs 11 per unit plus the 5% VAT on household use above 50 units (Rs 11.55 a unit), here is our running-cost arithmetic, set against the two most economical petrol motorcycles by official figures:

Bike Energy or fuel use Price of energy Cost per km 1,000 km a month
NIU RQi (electric) 4.6 kWh per 100 km (NIU) Rs 11.55 a unit about Rs 0.53 about Rs 531
Hero Xtreme 125R (petrol) 66 km/l (WMTC) Rs 200 a litre about Rs 3.03 about Rs 3,030
Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 (petrol) 36.2 km/l (brand) Rs 200 a litre about Rs 5.52 about Rs 5,525

Charging losses add a little to the electric figure, and your first units each month may cost less than Rs 11, so treat Rs 0.53 per km as a rough guide. Even so, the gap with petrol is large: about Rs 2,500 a month against the most economical petrol bike at 1,000 km. Try your own numbers in the EV charging cost calculator or the EV vs petrol calculator, and compare petrol bikes in our highest-mileage bikes list.

Charging: at home, not on the highway

None of these motorcycles lists a DC fast-charging option on its Nepal page. They are designed to charge from a normal socket, which shapes how you use them:

  • Removable batteries help. The RQi and Keeness batteries come out, so you can charge them indoors if you park in a lane or a basement without a socket.
  • Overnight is the rule. At 4–9 hours for a full charge, plan to charge at home or at work, not during a trip.
  • Highway trips need planning. With claimed ranges of 80–160 km and no fast charging, a long ride means stopping for hours wherever you can plug in.
  • Check your wiring. Charge from a proper earthed wall socket rather than an extension lead; our home charger guide explains what an electrician should check.

Warranty, licence and tax

  • Warranty. Yadea publishes 2 years or 20,000 km on the Keeness's motor and battery, whichever comes first. NIU and Super Soco do not state a motorcycle battery warranty on the pages we checked, so ask for it in writing. Compare that with the 8-year battery warranties common on electric cars in our battery warranty comparison, and read our guide to battery replacement costs before you decide.
  • Licence. A motorcycle needs a category A licence, whether it is petrol or electric. Our driving licence guide covers the steps and fees.
  • Annual tax. Electric two-wheelers are taxed by motor power in most provinces, and the rules differ by province; our petrol vs electric two-wheeler guide has the details we could confirm.

Which one suits whom?

Yadea KeenessYadea Keenessरु ६.६ लाखvsNIU RQiNIU RQiरु ९.९९ लाखCompare side by side →
  • Yadea Keeness (Rs 6.6 lakh): the lowest price of the two with official prices, the most motor power (11 kW peak) and a sporty naked-bike shape. The short 2-year warranty is the main thing to weigh.
  • NIU RQi (from Rs 9.99 lakh): the longest priced range claim (141 km), a published energy-use figure, removable twin batteries and a choice of CBS or ABS with traction control by version. It costs about Rs 3.4 lakh more.
  • Super Soco TC and TC Max: café-racer styling and modest 3 kW motors, closer to a 125 cc petrol bike in performance on paper. Without a published price, we cannot say how they compare on value.

For context, the same money buys a well-equipped petrol motorcycle: the Keeness costs about the same as a Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 (Rs 6,12,000), while a Hero Xtreme 125R costs Rs 2,98,900. An electric motorcycle makes most sense if you ride a lot within the city, can charge at home, and plan to keep it long enough for the running-cost savings to add up.

Before you buy: a short checklist

  1. Get the battery warranty in writing, in both years and kilometres.
  2. Ask which test the range comes from, and what the dealer sees in daily use.
  3. Check charge time with the supplied charger, and whether a faster charger is sold.
  4. Ask about service: where the nearest workshop is, and whether it repairs batteries or only swaps them.
  5. Confirm the version and specs on the invoice, especially for models whose pages show conflicting figures.

Browse all electric two-wheelers and EVs with their official prices, or compare any two.
