On official claims, the best-mileage petrol scooter in Nepal is the TVS Jupiter at 53.85 km/l (an ARAI figure from TVS India), followed by the Honda Dio 110 at around 50–55 km/l and the Honda Dio 125 at around 48 km/l, both claimed by Honda Nepal. Most other scooters on sale publish no mileage figure at all, and an electric scooter costs less than a tenth as much per km to run.

"Best mileage scooter in Nepal" is one of the most common searches from scooter buyers, often with "with price" added, and many people also search by brand: Dio, Ntorq, Yamaha, Vespa, Aprilia. We checked every petrol scooter in our catalogue against its official Nepal page and kept only figures a brand or distributor actually publishes. Every number below is claimed, not measured by us, and real-world mileage is usually lower.

Claimed mileage, ranked

Rank Scooter Engine Claimed mileage Who claims it Starting price
1 TVS Jupiter 113.3 cc 53.85 km/l TVS India, ARAI-certified (global spec, may differ in Nepal) Rs 2,64,900
2 Honda Dio 110 109.51 cc around 50–55 km/l Honda Nepal, no test named Rs 2,69,900
3 Honda Dio 125 123.92 cc around 48 km/l Honda Nepal, no test named Rs 3,14,900

Prices are indicative ex-showroom prices on the official Nepal sites, checked October 2026; registration, road tax and insurance come on top.

Two notes on these figures. The Jupiter number comes from TVS's India site, where the scooter is sold as the Jupiter 110; the Nepal model has the same 113.3 cc engine, but the Indian test and fuel may differ, so treat it as a global figure. Honda Nepal's figures come from its own July 2025 article on mileage scooters, which calls them "claimed" but does not name a test cycle.

What that mileage costs in fuel

At Nepal Oil Corporation's Kathmandu price of Rs 200 per litre, here is our own arithmetic (Rs 200 ÷ km/l) for a rider covering 1,000 km a month:

Scooter Claimed km/l Fuel cost per km Fuel for 1,000 km a month Tank Range on a full tank (claimed)
TVS Jupiter 53.85 Rs 3.71 Rs 3,714 not published not available
Honda Dio 110 50 (lower end) Rs 4.00 Rs 4,000 5.3 L about 265 km
Honda Dio 125 48 Rs 4.17 Rs 4,167 5.3 L about 254 km

So between the best and the third-best claim, the difference is under Rs 500 a month at 1,000 km. Mileage differences between scooters of the same size are small; your riding, the hills on your route and how well the scooter is serviced matter just as much.

Many of Nepal's best-selling scooters show no claimed mileage on their Nepal pages. Some describe "great mileage" or "fuel efficiency" in words only:

MAW Rides, describing the Yamaha RayZR 125 on its official Nepal page

Yamaha's Nepal distributor describes the RayZR this way, and credits its mild-hybrid engine and automatic stop-start, but gives no km/l number. Third-party websites quote a range of figures for these scooters that often contradict each other, and we cannot check them, so we leave them out. Ask the dealer for the claimed figure in writing, with the test it comes from, before you buy.

What the specs do tell you: lighter scooters generally use less fuel. The Yamaha RayZR (99 kg) and Fascino 125 (98 kg) are the lightest petrol scooters we list, and both use Yamaha's mild-hybrid power assist, followed by the Honda Dio 110 (103 kg; see our lightest scooters ranking) and Dio 125 (104 kg).

The electric alternative

If your main goal is a low running cost, an electric scooter changes the maths far more than any petrol model. Using the Nepal Electricity Authority's home tariff of Rs 11.55 per kWh, here is our own arithmetic for a full charge and the cost per km at the brand's claimed range (battery energy only; charger losses add a little):

Electric scooter Battery Claimed range Cost of a full charge Cost per km Starting price
Yadea GS70 2.16 kWh 105 km about Rs 25 about Rs 0.24 Rs 2,35,000
TVS Orbiter 3.1 kWh 158 km about Rs 36 about Rs 0.23 Rs 2,81,900
Bajaj Chetak C2501 2.5 kWh 113 km (IDC) about Rs 29 about Rs 0.26 Rs 2,81,900 (indicative; not on the official site)

Even if real-world range is a third lower than claimed, that is well under Rs 0.50 per km, against Rs 3.71 to Rs 4.17 for the best petrol claims. At 1,000 km a month, the GS70 would use about Rs 238 of electricity against about Rs 3,714 of petrol for the Jupiter.

The trade-offs are range, charging time and the battery's life, which we cover in our petrol vs electric two-wheeler guide and the best electric scooters in Nepal round-up. For the cheapest e-scooters, see electric scooters under Rs 2 lakh and the cheapest in Nepal. You can also put your own numbers into the EV vs petrol cost calculator.

How to get closer to the claimed mileage

  • Keep tyres at the pressure printed on the scooter. Soft tyres cost fuel and wear faster.
  • Service on time. Clean air filter, fresh oil and a correctly adjusted CVT belt all help.
  • Open the throttle smoothly. Scooters with automatic transmissions reward gentle starts.
  • Do not idle for long. If your scooter has stop-start, leave it switched on in traffic.
  • Travel light. On a 110–125 cc engine, a pillion or heavy load makes a clear difference.

Which scooter should you pick for mileage?

  • Lowest claimed fuel use: the TVS Jupiter (53.85 km/l ARAI, from Rs 2,64,900), and the cheapest of the three with a claim.
  • A claim from the Nepal distributor itself: the Honda Dio 110 (around 50–55 km/l, from Rs 2,69,900).
  • A 125 cc scooter with a claim: the Honda Dio 125 (around 48 km/l, from Rs 3,14,900).
  • Lowest running cost overall: an electric scooter, if you can charge at home.

What is the mileage of the Honda Dio in Nepal?

Honda Nepal claims around 50–55 km/l for the Dio 110 (BS6) and around 48 km/l for the Dio 125. It does not name the test.

Does the Yamaha RayZR publish a mileage figure in Nepal?

No. Yamaha's Nepal distributor calls it a high-mileage scooter but gives no km/l figure on its official page.

Is an electric scooter cheaper to run than a petrol scooter?

Yes, by a wide margin. At the NEA home tariff of Rs 11.55 per kWh, a Yadea GS70 costs about Rs 0.24 per km in electricity at its claimed range, against about Rs 3.71 per km in petrol for the Jupiter's claimed mileage.
